WASHINGTON — A Maine man is in custody on felony and misdemeanor fees, together with assaulting a regulation enforcement officer, for his actions throughout the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. His actions and the actions of others disrupted a joint session of the U.S. Congress convened to establish and depend the electoral votes associated to the presidential election.
Christopher Maurer, 45, previously of Biddeford, Maine, is charged in a felony grievance, filed within the District of Columbia, with two felonies: civil dysfunction; assaulting, resisting, or impeding sure officers with a lethal and harmful weapon; and 5 misdemeanors, together with: coming into and remaining in a restricted constructing or grounds; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted constructing or grounds; partaking in bodily violence in a restricted constructing or grounds; impeding passage by means of the Capitol grounds or buildings; and fascinating in an act of bodily violence on capitol grounds or buildings.
