ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Lawyer for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Particular Agent in Cost of the FBI Albuquerque Subject Workplace, introduced right this moment that Gerardo Rafael Lara-Yanez was charged in federal court docket with intent to distribute 400 grams and extra of fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute 50 grams and extra of a combination and substance containing methamphetamine, conspiracy, being a felon in possession of a firearm, being an illegal drug person in possession of a firearm, and possession of firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Lara-Yanez, 24, of Albuquerque, will stay in custody pending trial, which has not been scheduled.

In line with the criticism, in October the FBI Violent Gangs Activity Pressure (VGTF) have been investigating Jeffrey Alan Chavez, 35, of Albuquerque, for overseeing drug gross sales from at the least three drug homes in southeast Albuquerque. Chavez allegedly employed Lara-Yanez to run one of many drug homes. In November, an FBI undercover worker (UCE) made contact with Lara-Yanez and Chavez, and Chavez allegedly indicated he might provide methamphetamine and fentanyl. The UCE met Lara-Yanez and Chavez at a drug home, the place they allegedly supplied 141.4 grams of methamphetamine and 550.1 grams of fentanyl capsules in trade for $9,250. In the course of the transaction, Lara-Yanez allegedly dealt with a number of firearms, together with a short-barreled shotgun and a number of pistols.

Lara-Yanez was arrested on Dec. 12. A criticism is simply an allegation. A defendant is presumed harmless except and till confirmed responsible. If convicted, Lara-Yanez faces a minimal of ten years and as much as life in jail.

Chavez is charged with possession with intent to distribute 400 grams and extra of fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute 50 grams and extra of a combination and substance containing methamphetamine, conspiracy, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, being an illegal drug person in possession of a firearm, and possession of firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Chavez will stay in custody pending trial, which has not been scheduled.

Assistant United States Lawyer Paul J. Mysliwiec is prosecuting the case.
